WHO Sounds Alarm on RO Water

Is it Safe to Drink RO Water?

In a recent report by World Health Organization (WHO), RO water is not safe to drink. But there is virtually no tried-and-tested evidence to suggest that Reverse Osmosis (RO) water is harmful to your health, RO expert says.

As per the principal scientist at CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur, India. Dr. Atul V Maldhure says, stressed that if RO is indispensable, it is crucial to maintain a certain level of total dissolved solids (TDS) in treated water, ideally between 200-250 milligrams per litre.

Worries Raised by WHO and Health Professionals

Recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) has cautioned against the excessive use of RO filters. WHO says, the effects of consuming RO water can devoid the of essential minerals in our body.

WHO shared a report, actually, RO filtered the essential vital minerals like calcium and magnesium and more which are required to the body. Moreover, WHO also said, the specific mineral content per litre of water to maintain optimal health. It recommends a TDS level of less than 300 mg/L for drinking water is good.
