What is Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is the most dangerous virus than other hepatitis viruses. It is a serious liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus which is uncurable in case of chronic infection. When Hepatitis B detected in the body, the infection will be for short term which is called acute infection. Once it will turn to chronic, then this is very hard to cure.

Acute Hepatitis B Infection

Acute Hepatitis B infection is less than six months of the infection. Mostly this infection goes as its own or doctor suggested some medication to get rid of the infection.

Chronic Hepatitis B Infection

But if the stay more than six months in the body then it is called chronic. It means your immune system or antibody unable to cure the Hepatitis B infection. Sufficient Antibody is not created to get rid of the virus again the infection. However, in that case patient need to treatment in every six months or more as per the liver condition and complication. The patient required lifelong treatment for this infection. If patient will not follow the treatment time to time, then there will be the chances the risk of liver failure, liver cancer, cirrhosis and serious scarring of the liver and death finally.

How to Prevent Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B vaccine can prevent infection with the hepatitis B virus. This vaccine could be two doses or three doses depending as per the vaccine doses. Everyone should take the vaccines and that should be followed the timeline as per the guided by vaccine companies, otherwise it will not work properly. Once you get vaccinated, that means you are protected from Hepatitis B infection. It will work till 25 to 30 years from the date of vaccinated. Mostly vaccine protect up to 96% from this deadly virus. I would suggest, Prevention is Better than Cure”

Remember, vaccine will not work if already you have infected with Hepatitis B Virus. In that case you need the lifelong treatment. Early Symptoms of Hepatitis B Infection

Sometimes you will be noticed the following symptoms and sometimes you will not get any symptoms. It is varied from person to person. Once this virus entered into the body, after 40 days it will detect in the body and start showing the following symptoms like following:

Hepatitis B symptoms may include:

  • Pain in the upper abdomen area
  • Very dark coloured urine.
  • Mild fiver stays continuously in the body, not feeling free and easy.
  • Feel joint pain in the body
  • Not interested to eat or drink, loss of appetite
  • Sometimes stomach upset and vomiting without any reason.
  • Feeling fatigue, weakness and extreme tiredness remain whole day.
  • Skin and eyes colour turned to yellow suddenly, which is the symptoms of Jaundice.

What are the Causes Hepatitis B?

  • Unprotected sex means without condoms.
  • Oral and Anal sex
  • If HBV infected person’s body fluid such ad blood, menstural fluid, saliva, vaginal fluid touch in the body.
  • Use of Hepatitis B infected person’s shaving kit, body grooming items, daily clothes.
  • Taking blood without testing
  • Taking injection or giving blood sample with shared needles or syringes with someone who have the reactive Hepatitis B Virus.
  • Contaminated medical instrument like a scalpel

How long are you contagious with hepatitis B?

If you are have acute infection, in that case it will be vanished within 6 months or your doctor will suggested what to do in that case during the treatment. If you have chronic infection, you need a lifelong treatment. In that case your doctor will say to do these following medical tests to monitor the liver condition in every six months:

  • 1) ALT/AST Enzyme Test
  • 2) HBsAg (Hepatitis B Surface Antigen) Test
  • 3) HBV DNA Test
  • 4) HBeAg (Hepatitis B Envelope Antigen) Test
  • 5) Liver Fibroscan/ Whole Abdomen Ultrasound

What are the Possible Complications Seen in Hepatitis B Patients?

  • Acute liver failure, Fibrosis, Fatty liver,
  • Liver Cirrhosis,
  • Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC),
  • Liver Cancer,
  • Auto Immune Hepatitis

In this case, patient can survive after the liver transplant or death. There is no alternative solution to cure from these complications.
